We have now made the source-code of Aimmy V2 available for anyone to modify and distribute. This means you are able to use our work as a base or to improve your own projects, however with a couple provisions.
What are those provisions?
The Aimmy Development Team prohibits you from distributing modified versions of our software under these provisions
- That your modified version is distributed in a commercial manner - That your modified version is developed with the intent to distribute malware
If you would like to distribute modified versions of Aimmy commercially, you are free to ask the support team to purchase a one-time license for the source code. If you are nice enough, we are willing to work closely with you.
Aimmy is Open-Source?
No. Aimmy is not, and has never been considered an open-source product. This is an important distinction to make, as it breaks Rule 6 of the "Open Source Definition" written by the Open Source Initiative, as shown below:
"The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the program in a specific field of endeavor. For example, it may not restrict the program from being used in a business, or from being used for genetic research."
As we prohibit commercial use, we are as such, not open-source. Please do not claim that we are one.
What contributed to this change?
We have decided to slow down development and take a break.
